Senior Human Resources Representative

Summary:  Growing Life Science Pharmaceutical located in San Francisco.

The Senior Human Resources Representative will be accountable for a variety of Human Resources activities, including maintaining the HRIS database, coordinating recruitment efforts, ensuring administrative compliance as required, benefits administration, and all HR administrative tasks.

Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Recruitment
    • Work closely with hiring managers to develop job descriptions and assess staffing needs.
    • Place ads and utilize cost effective recruiting methods.
    • Review resumes and coordinate interviews.
    • Assure compliance with applicable laws and statutes involving record-keeping.
    • Manage relationships with recruiting agencies.
    • Complete reference checks in conjunction with hiring managers.
    • Coordinate new-hire relocations when applicable.
    • Process immigration paperwork and work permits in compliance with applicable laws and policies.
    • Prepare monthly headcount reports.
    • Prepare offer letters.
    • Maintain New Employee Orientation Packets.
    • Oversee company-wide orientation program and conducting new hire orientations for the Human Resources area.
  • Administering employee benefits including:
    • Ensuring new hires have enrolled in benefits
    • Reconciling, processing and auditing monthly medical, dental, vision, and COBRA invoices
    • Resolving employees’ issues regarding benefits
    • Coordinating corporate communication of all benefits
    • Participating in the benefit review process and assisting with open enrollment meetings
    • Coordinating annual Health & Benefits Fair
  • Maintaining HR Database (HRIS) and all employee records
  • Arranging noon-time educational seminars
  • Assisting in administering compensation programs, including processing all salary changes and bonus payouts
  • Processing employee termination paperwork
  • Keeping organization charts updated
  • Coordinating federal and state laws regarding leaves of absences
  • Preparing 5500’s
  • Processing employment verifications
  • Maintaining legal postings
  • Maintaining Desk Manual (Administrative Assistant Guide)
  • Issuing HR e-mail regarding employee hires, transfers and terms
  • Maintaining Employee Handbook, updating regularly as needed
  • Providing general clerical support to HR
  • Assist with a multitude of HR projects, including streamlining processes and updating systems
  • Acting as backup to the Office Manager and other administrative assistants.
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications include:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills required
  • Creative and resourceful with a positive attitude
  • Working knowledge of California Labor Law as well as Federal regulations
  • PC skills including e-mail, Microsoft Word and HRIS required
  • Ability to organize and multi-task effectively in a fast-paced environment
  • At least 5 years of experience in Human Resources in the biotechnology industry
